‘Reinstated’ by Gator teammates, Demarcus Robinson will play in SEC title game

While Florida’s seniors voted to allow suspended wide receiver Demarcus Robinson to return to the team earlier this week, head coach Jim McElwain was non-committal when it came to the junior actually seeing the field this weekend. In the end, not surprisingly, Robinson will -- although how much remains to be seen.

In his talk with the media ahead of Saturday’s SEC championship game with Alabama, McElwain conceded that his prodigal receiver will indeed see action against the heavily-favored Tide. The number of plays, though, remains to be seen.

He’ll get a few snaps out there,” McElwain said Friday. “One thing I’ve said all along, I think he’s come as far as everybody has in this program and continues to learn. It will be fun to see him come out here and play.”

The wide receiver was suspended for Florida’s game last Saturday against Florida State for what was described as an unspecified violation of team rules. It was at least the fourth suspension for Robinson during his time with the Gators.

Robinson’s 47 receptions are currently tops on the team, while his 505 yards are second. He led the team in both categories last season with 53 and 810, and in receiving touchdowns (seven) as well.
