A subpar 2015 season has cost one member of Mark Stoops’ Kentucky staff his job.
WKYT-TV reported earlier in the day Thursday that Shannon Dawson would not return as the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator in 2016. A short time later, Bruce Feldman of FOXSports.com tweeted that the coordinator had confirmed the development even as the school has made no announcement on Dawson’s future.
Dawson also served as UK’s quarterbacks coach.
BREAKING #Kentucky OC Shannon Dawson is out as OC, he tells @FoxSports. Philosophically things weren’t working out.

Dawson just completed his first season in Lexington after replacing Neal Brown, who left to take over as the head coach at Troy. In his lone season orchestrating UK’s offense, the Wildcats finished tied for 95th nationally in scoring at 24.7 points per game.
In the last season under Brown, UK was 63rd in the country at 29.2 ppg.
