Texas A&M emerges as favorite to land former OU QB Trevor Knight

From the “This Makes Too Much Sense Not To Happen” Department, Gig ‘Em 247 reported Sunday Texas A&M is the favorite to win the services of former Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight.

The site reports Knight spoke to Kevin Sumlin multiple times this week and is expected to announce his choice “some time before Christmas.” Which, as my 4-year-old daughter reminds me every hour on the hour, is five days from now.

Knight was originally committed to Texas A&M out of Reagan High School in San Antonio but ultimately signed with Oklahoma in 2012. His Sooner career had its ups and downs, mostly downs of late as he posted a 14-to-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio while averaging 7.3 yards per attempt in 2014 before ceding the starting role to Baker Mayfield in 2015. But Knight has proven the capability of doing one thing no current Aggie has done - beat Alabama.

As a redshirt freshman, Knight threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a win over the Crimson Tide in the 2014 Sugar Bowl.

And, as you know, Texas A&M has an immediate need at quarterback after losing Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray in the span of one week.
