Boston College tabs Scot Loeffler as offensive coordinator

In need of revamping the offense in a hurry, Boston College has hired Scot Loeffler to be the new offensive coordinator of the Eagles. Loeffler was announced as the new offensive coordinator on Tuesday afternoon.

“I am excited to have Scot Loeffler and his family join the Boston College football family,” Addazio said. “Scot and I have worked together at Florida and he was my offensive coordinator at Temple where we won nine games, including the first bowl victory in 32 years. He is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks coaches in the country and has a tremendous insight into the passing game and the offense as a whole. He is bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to BC.”

Boston College had the nation’s best defense in 2015 but one of the worst offenses in the country. Boston College ranked 126th in total offense, 121st in scoring offense, 73rd in rushing offense and 125th in passing offense. There is nowhere to go but up for the Eagles. But it is not as though Virginia Tech’s offense was lighting up opponents the way they used to with Mike Vick running the offense. Virginia Tech ranked 74th in total offense and 53rd in scoring offense.

Boston College announced a few other coaching adjustments on the staff. Justin Frye has been promoted to run game coordinator in addition to coaching the offensive line. Ben Albert has been promoted to associate coordinator of the defense and he will continue coaching the defensive line. Todd Fitch will move back to coaching wide receivers. Al Washington takes over special teams and outside linebackers duties and Brian White will be the running back coach.
