Duke adds Purdue OL coach Jim Bridge as special teams coordinator

When Duke stayed in-house and promoted Zac Roper to offensive coordinator, it created a hole on David Cutcliffe‘s coaching staff. A week later, consider that hole filled.

Cutcliffe has once again completed his Blue Devils staff, announcing Friday that he has hired Jim Bridge to be his special teams coordinator. Bridge will also coach tight ends, as well as hold the title of assistant head coach.

Roper had also been in charge of the Blue Devil tight ends.

“We’re certainly thrilled to have Jim Bridge and his family join the Duke family,” Cutcliffe said. “Jim’s professional track record speaks for itself. He’s a veteran coach who has been part of some really, really good coaching staffs, and that’s not by accident. He’s coached in a bunch of bowl games. He’s recruited at a very high level. We certainly knew Jim from both a coaching and recruiting standpoint when he was at N.C. State. On top of the coaching aspect, I know he’ll fit right into our program because of his value system. He’s a great husband and father. He’s a terrific addition to our staff.”

Bridge spent the past three seasons as the offensive line coach at Purdue. In addition to North Carolina State (2007-12), Bridge also spent four seasons (2003-06) at Boston College.
