West Virginia unveils updated turf design for Milan Puskar Stadium

West Virginia will be installing a brand new FieldTurf playing surface in Milan Puskar Stadium before the 2016 college football season, and it will feature a slightly modified field design that will be highlighted by a larger “WV” logo at midfield. The new field replaces the turf that was installed prior to the 2007 college football season.

The West Virginia logo will reach from about the 43-yard lines on each side of the field and span from hash mark to hash mark. This essentially doubles the size of the school’s logo at midfield compared to previous years. If the illustration is any indication, it also looks as though the midfield logo will be brighter and stand out better. It had previously appeared slightly faded into the turf by design. You can see that compared to the Big 12 logos, the midfield “WV” logo was more faded. That will no longer be the case.

The Big 12 Conference logos will remain on the field as well, although they will be reduced in size and moved to the 20-yard line as opposed to the 25-yard line it had previously been painted. West Virginia is entering its fifth season as a member of the Big 12 (yes, five years already), so perhaps the time had come to put the emphasis more on the West Virginia logo instead of its new conference home.
