Clemson DB Adrian Baker tears ACL

Clemson defensive back Adrian Baker saw his spring football season cut short. Baker suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of Clemson’s spring football practices, according to a report from The Post and Courier.

Baker was expected to compete for a starting job in Clemson’s defensive secondary, a unit that is going through a bit of turnover after the ACC championship season that ended in the national championship game. How soon he returns to the practice field remains to be seen, and it is far too early to determine what this means for the 2016 season. A torn ACL in the spring has a history of knocking a player out for the entire fall, but that decision can be made later this summer, if not in the fall.

Baker recorded 13 tackles and picked off a pair of passes during the 2015 season. Both interceptions came in a big win over ACC division rival Florida State, helping to preserve Clemson’s undefeated regular season and rise to the top of the polls.
