Fresno State adds road trips to Arizona State and Texas A&M to future schedules

Fresno State is busy arranging more future games against power conference opponents. On Thursday the school announced future road games against Texas A&M and Arizona State to be played in 2020 and 2023, respectively.

Fresno State is scheduled to play at Texas A&M on September 26, 2020. The Bulldogs will visit Arizona State on September 16, 2023. It was reported yesterday Fresno State has agreed to a future game against Oregon to be played in Eugene on September 4, 2021.

“These games offer Fresno State the continued opportunity to showcase Bulldog football across the country against elite competition,” Fresno State director of athletics Jim Bartko said in a released statement. “They reflect our scheduling philosophy to create opportunities to produce necessary income and bring long-term consistency in our scheduling model.”

Fresno State will play at least one opponent from a power conference each season through 2023, with the lone exception right now being 2020. No non-conference games have been announced for Fresno State for the 2022 season.

The addition of Fresno State to the schedule for Texas A&M does not satisfy the non-conference scheduling requirement in the SEC for the Aggies, but that requirement is already met with a game scheduled against former Big 12 foe Colorado, now of the Pac-12. The addition of Fresno State in 2020 does complete Texas A&M’s non-conference slate (games are also scheduled against North Texas and Abilene Christian).

Arizona State has no such non-conference scheduling obligation to include a power conference opponent in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils, however, are scheduled to venture into SEC territory with a road trip to LSU on September 9, 2023.
