Report: Travaris Dorsey transferring from Florida

Expected to contribute, perhaps significantly, in 2016, Travaris Dorsey will instead unexpectedly take his leave of Florida.

While there is nothing yet official from the school, Scout.com is reporting that Dorsey has decided to transfer out of the UF football program and continue his collegiate playing career somewhere other than with the Gators. A possible destination for the 6-2, 321-pound offensive lineman is at Tuskegee, a Div. II school in Alabama.

If Dorsey were to leave as reported and drop down to that level, he’d be eligible to play immediately in 2016. If he opts for another FBS program, he’d likely have to sit out the upcoming season, leaving the Jacksonville product with two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

Dorsey was a three-star member of the Gators’ 2014 recruiting class, rated as the No. 30 guard in the country and No. 96 player at any position in the state of Florida.

After redshirting as a true freshman, Dorsey played in 10 games last season. The recruiting website wrote that “Dorsey was expected to challenge for playing time or possibly a starting spot at guard for Florida in 2016.”
