Clemson CB Kaleb Chalmers charged for marijuana possession

Clemson redshirt freshman cornerback Kaleb Chalmers got into some hot water this week. Chalmers was arrested Monday and charged with simple drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule II controlled substance. He was released on a $1,000 bail.

According to The Independent Mail, Chalmers was found with less than one ounce of marijuana and this was his first offense. The arresting officer found Chalmers in the driver’s seat of a parked car at a bowling alley deemed suspicious. The police report says Chalmers was moving around inside the vehicle more than a normal amount. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana. Chalmers was then searched and was found to have been carrying pills of Vyvanse, Alprazolam and Adderall as well as a digital scale. A female in the car was also issued a warning and was not arrested.

Chalmers suffered a separated shoulder during Clemson’s spring football practices last week as he competes for a starting job in Clemson’s new-look secondary in 2016. How this affects his chances remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn’t look good. There has been no additional punishment from Clemson at this time.
