Central Michigan LB Malik Fountain charged for allegedly punching two women

Central Michigan linebacker Malik Fountain has been charged for an alleged assault on two women.

Fountain is accused of punching two women at a bar back in early December. One of the women claimed to police she needed nose surgery following the incident in question. Fountain denied to authorities hitting any woman but was placed in jail and released on bond Thursday. An arraignment has yet to be scheduled.

According to The Morning Sun, Fountain has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or assault and battery. Multiple witness testimonies are included in the affidavit saying there appeared to be some sort of argument between the suspect and one of the alleged victims. One witness claims another man threw a drink on Fountain and another individual and a fight broke out between the two before being restrained immediately. Fountain’s side of the story was also shared;

Fountain told police he was at the bar with a former CMU teammate who he said looks “very similar to him” and said his teammate “got into it” with the man and two alleged victims, according to court documents.

He also told police he thought the other man, whom he and his friend identified as an “Arab,” was going to assault him and the two began fighting, according to court documents.

Fountain denied hitting any women during the altercation.

Following news of the arrest, Central Michigan suspended Fountain for a violation of team rules.
