According to Barry Alvarez, GameDay headed to Green Bay for LSU-Wisconsin

Lookout, Green Bay. It’s coming to your cit-ay.

The “it” in this case is ESPN’s College GameDay show, the wildly popular traveling football circus that sets up camp at the sites of the most important/meaningful games of the college football season. The 2016 seasons opens the weekend opens the weekend of Sept. 3 and includes a handful of significant games, including USC against defending national champion Alabama in Jerry’s World; college football bluebloods Notre Dame and Texas clashing; old-school Oklahoma vs. new-school Houston at the home of the NFL’s Texans; and Clemson traveling to Auburn for the front-end of an old-fashioned home-and-home series.

While those would each be worthy options for GameDay, it appears Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit & Company will be headed to the friendly confines of historic Lambeau Field opening weekend.

According to Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez, ESPN GameDay will be at Lambeau Field in Green Bay for the Badgers’ opener vs. #LSU.

That 2016 game will mark the first-ever at Lambeau between two FBS teams, and just the fourth college game ever played on the iconic Frozen Tundra. The last college football game played at the stadium came in 1983, with St. Norbert College “hosting” Fordham University in a Vince Lombardi Memorial Game.
