Ole Miss to delay Notice of Allegations response for 30 days

Ole Miss was supposed to issue its response to the NCAA’s Notice of Allegations by today. That won’t happen, as the Rebels have announced the NCAA has granted them a 30-day extension:

One of the other parties to the NCAA Notice of Allegations has requested and received a 30-day extension to respond to the notice. This extension is an often used tool available to all parties, and the Notice of Allegations itself has not changed in any way. Upon the completion of the 30-day extension period, the University will release our full Response to the Notice of Allegations.

It is not immediately clear who “one of the other parties” is.

In January, Ole Miss was hit with a Notice that included allegations of 28 violations spread across football, women’s basketball and track and field. Thirteen of the 28 violations are related to football, though the complaints are against David Saunders and Chris Vaughn, assistant coaches who served during the Houston Nutt era.

In addition to his alleged trouble at Ole Miss, Saunders was given an eight-year show-cause for arranging fraudulent test scores for Louisiana-Lafayette recruits.
