Comment about Florida shirt at Baton Rouge strip club leads to armed vehicle chase

Everett L. Beauchamp IV just wanted to enjoy a nice, wholesome evening out at The Penthouse Club, a Baton Rouge strip joint. Beauchamp was in his trusty Florida Gators shirt. It was 2:15 in the morning. Everything was perfect.

Until a member of a six-man bachelor party made a comment about Beauchamp’s Florida shirt.

It was then that, according to police reports compiled by the Baton Rouge Advocate, walked to the valet entrance, grabbed one of the valet’s stools and attempted to beat the man with it. Bystanders intervened between the man and his legs of justice, so Beauchamp threatened to get his gun.

That threat caused the group to flee to their vehicle so Beauchamp, naturally, followed them. In his 2013 Ford Raptor -- and his orange Gators shirt, don’t forget -- Beauchamp trailed the men onto College Avenue, then to Interstate 10. The group exited, and Beauchamp still followed, this time attempting to ram his Raptor into their vehicle. When that failed, he opened fire on the vehicle as it exited onto the eastbound Interstate 12 loop.

The men eventually lost Beauchamp, and Beauchamp eventually lost the road. Police officers found the 32-year-old shortly before 3 a.m. after running his Raptor into LSU Lakes. He admitted to officers to drinking “between eight and 10" Coronas. His blood alcohol level was nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit, and police found a Taurus .45 handgun on the scene.

He was charged on six counts of assault by drive-by shooting, one count of aggravated criminal damage to property, DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain control and one count of illegal use of a weapon.

The integrity of the shirt, though, remains intact.
