Jauan Wesley, Iowa State’s third-leading receiver, decides to leave Cyclones

Somewhat abruptly, and unexpectedly, Iowa State’s passing game suffered a rather significant hit late last month.

In mid-May, speculation began to surface that Jauan Wesley was considering a transfer from the Cyclones. In a press release sent out earlier this week, head coach Matt Campbell confirmed that he and the wide receiver “made the mutual decision it would be best for Jauan to continue his football career at another school.”

What led up to that “mutual decision” is the great unknown.

Regardless of the specifics, the move is a blow to the Cyclones’ offense -- although not as big a one according to some.

Last season, Wesley started nine games and finished third on the team with 30 receptions. His 301 receiving yards were good for fourth on the team.

Wesley, who would’ve been a junior in 2016 at ISU, finishes his career in Ames with 40 receptions for 408 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
