Marshall confirms addition, tweak to Doc Holliday’s staff

With the 2016 season fast approaching, Doc Holliday has gotten down to the task of finalizing his Marshall coaching staff.

Wednesday, Marshall confirmed that Dave Dunn has been hired by Holliday to serve as the Thundering Herd’s tight ends coach. Dunn had spent the past 10 seasons as the head football coach at Div. III Catholic University of America in Washington D.C.

“Dave brings a wealth of experience to our staff, including the last 11 as a college head coach,” said Holliday in a statement. “We are excited for him and his family to get started here and to be part of the Huntington community.”

This will be Dunn’s first coaching job at the FBS level.

In the same release, Marshall also announced that Todd Goebbel, who coached the Herd’s tight end’s in 2015 prior to Dunn’s arrival, will slide over to wide receivers coach. Goebbel, who also coached receivers during a previous stint with the Herd from 2005-09, will still retain his role as recruiting coordinator.

The hole on Holliday’s staff was created by Mike Furrey‘s departure last month for the head coaching job at Limestone College in South Carolina.
