Texas confirms addition of four-star 2016 Baylor signee Devin Duvernay

One day after the player acknowledged it, so has his new school.

Wednesday, erstwhile Baylor signee Devin Duvernay had reportedly confirmed that he had committed to Texas as his new college football home. Thursday, in a press release, the Longhorns confirmed the four-star wide receiver’s addition to their roster.

“I’m so excited to have Devin joining our program and making what already was a tremendous class of 2016 even better,” a statement from UT head coach Charlie Strong began. “We’re thrilled to have him, not just because he’s so talented as a football player, but even more so because he’s a super young man with great character.

“He’s one of the fastest sprinters in the nation, so you know he brings unbelievable speed and explosiveness to our team. We’re looking forward to getting him to campus.”

Aside from his four-star football exploits, Duvernay will bring 10.27 100-meter dash speed to Austin, the third-fastest time for a high schooler this year.

Duvernay had originally signed with Baylor as a member of the Bears’ 2016 recruiting class this past February. The combination of the sexual assault scandal and a botched National Letter of Intent led him to become a recruiting free agent again.
