Army gives the boot to its leading rusher in 2015

Earlier this month, Navy gave the heave-ho to one of its football players. A handful of days later, a fellow service academy has reportedly done the same.

Citing unnamed sources, Sal Interdonato of HudsonValley.com is reporting that Aaron Kemper has been removed from the Black Knights football team. The dismissal stemmed from an academic honor-code violation.

Army officials have declined to address the running back’s standing with either the football team or the academy.

Kemper’s 544 yards rushing last season led the run-heavy Black Knights, who saw 14 players account for at least one carry and 10 that finished in double digits. However, Kemper was leapfrogged on the depth chart this past spring by a pair of converted linebackers, Andy Davidson and Cole Macek.

Of that development, Interdonato wrote that, "[m]aybe, the Army coaching staff sensed this coming.”
