Reserve D-lineman becomes second Hokie to transfer in a month

For the second time in less than a month, Virginia Tech is losing a player to transfer.

An athletic department official has confirmed to the Roanoke Times that Harry Lewis has decided to transfer out of Justin Fuente‘s first-year program. It appears that playing time, or lack thereof, may have triggered the decision.

From Andy Bitter‘s report:

The Hokies are pretty well stocked at defensive tackle this season, with seniors Woody Baron and Nigel Williams finishing the spring with the first team. Redshirt sophomores Ricky Walker and Steve Sobczak and massive redshirt freshman Tim Settle are pushing for playing time. Freshman Jarrod Hewitt is a scholarship player who joined the team this summer.

Defensive line coach Charley Wiles said in the spring that finding reps for Lewis was difficult, given the number of players at the position.

A three-star member of the Hokies’ 2015 recruiting class, Lewis was rated as the No. 50 defensive tackle in the country. He took a redshirt as a true freshman.

In late June, Tech confirmed that linebacker Carson Lydon is no longer with the team and intends to transfer to an undetermined location.
