Alabama transfer Daylon Charlot tweets move to Kansas

Well that certainly didn’t take long.

Wednesday, Daylon Charlot took to Twitter to announce that he had made the decision to transfer out of the Alabama football program and continue his collegiate playing career elsewhere. A day later, the wide receiver took to the same social media site to reveal his next elsewhere -- Kansas.

For comparison’s sake as to what Charlot is leaving versus what he’s entering, Alabama has won 98 games since 2008. Kansas, meanwhile, has won 97 games since 1995. More recently, the Tide’s 14 wins in their title-winning 2015 season are two more than the Jayhawks won, total, from 2010-15.

Charlot will have to sit out the 2016 season in Lawrence because of NCAA transfer rules. He’ll then have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

A four-star 2015 recruit, Charlot was rated as the No. 9 receiver in the country; the No. 4 player at any position in the state of Louisiana; and the No. 90 player overall on 247Sports.com‘s composite board. The only skill position players in the Tide’s class that year rated higher than Charlot were fellow receiver Calvin Ridley, quarterback Blake Barnett and running back Damien Harris, all of whom were five-star prospects.

As a true freshman, Charlot played in five games. In that limited action, he caught a pair of passes for nine yards.
