Texas Tech adds Boise State transfer Kaleb Hill

Earlier today we noted that Texas Tech had added a transfer from Arkansas. As it turns out, the Red Raiders have added a second FBS transfer as well.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal notes that defensive end Kaleb Hill has been added to Tech’s 105-man preseason roster. Hill, who earlier this year decided to transfer from Boise State, will be joining his brother, Kolin Hill, a former Notre Dame defensive lineman who transferred to Tech last year.

Kaleb Hill will have to sit out the 2016 season, but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017.

“He just wanted to get back to Texas and have an opportunity to earn a scholarship,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “Good player. We really have enjoyed working with his brother. I think they wanted to be together. The family wanted them both here, so it worked out for us.”

A three-star member of the Broncos’ 2014 recruiting class, Hill was rated as the No. 213 player at any position in the state of Texas coming out Schertz Samuel Clemens High School. After redshirting as a true freshman, Hill played in one game in 2015.
