LSU says Leonard Fournette ‘street fight’ video just horseplay

What would the summer camp portion of the offseason be without a little “controversy” involving a Heisman front-runner?

TMZ.com reported Wednesday that it had obtained a video that shows LSU running back Leonard Fournette involved in what the gossip website described as “a shocking street fight with one of his teammates.” The teammate is Tigers offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield, although it appears other teammates can be heard laughing in the background.

According to LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette, however, the video clip doesn’t tell the entire story. From the Baton Rouge Advocate:

In the video, Fournette and teammate Garrett Brumfield square off in a game where, Bonnette said, “they basically have to touch the other person twice.”

“What you don’t see is when the video cuts off, they hug it out. They’re not mad at each other. No one was injured,” Bonnette said.

So it appears this is all much ado about nothing. Probably.

Here’s to guessing, though, that head coach Les Miles might be less than impressed with a game that could injure one of the best players in college football and the linchpin of any title hopes the Tigers entertain.
