Darrell Miller tweets decision to transfer from Vols

Tennessee has significant depth and talent in the defensive secondary, and that situation has actually caused the football program some attrition in that group.

Taking to his personal Twitter account Wednesday, Darrell Miller announced on the social media site that he has decided to transfer out of Butch Jones’ Volunteers squad. The defensive back didn’t give a reason for his decision, although the depth chart would be a good place to start.

“I want to thank the University of Tennessee & the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play at such a prestigious program,” Miller wrote. “I wish nothing but the best to my teammates and the coaching staff.”

Miller was a three-star 2015 recruit, rated as the No. 69 cornerback in the country and the No. 94 player at any position in the state of Texas. He held offers from, among others, Boise State, Houston, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Utah and Purdue.

As a true freshman last season, Miller played in five games.
