Jamal Holloway had been a commitment to Syracuse’s 2016 class but never signed a National Letter of Intent with the ACC program as he didn’t earn a qualifying score on a standardized test until later on in the spring that finally satisfied the NCAA’s sliding-scale requirement. Holloway also considered Old Dominion and UNLV before opting for the program in Sin City.
“It’s a wonderful feeling just going through the recruiting process, how stressful it was trying to pick a school. And honestly, I think this is probably the best place for me,” Holloway told nj.com. “It’s a great opportunity with the new staff that they have here. (Head) coach (Tony) Sanchez (formerly of perennially ranked Bishop Gorman high school, also in Las Vegas) and coach (Tony) Samuel, the d-line coach. I think I’m going to learn a lot here.”
Holloway was a three-star 2016 recruit rated as the No. 19 player at any position in the state of New Jersey. The defensive end will be eligible to play immediately in 2016.
