S. Carolina P Sean Kelly arrested on multiple charges, including ‘malicious injury to tree’

Somewhere, Harvey Updyke nods knowingly.

According to The State, South Carolina punter Sean Kelly was arrested earlier this month on multiple charges. Specifically, Kelly is facing charges of public disorderly conduct and malicious injury to tree, house and trespass upon real property with an injury value $2,000 or less.

Just what led to the arrest and charges is unknown, as is the condition of the tree.

Head coach Will Muschamp stated that Kelly will not face a game suspension as a result of the incident. “I am handling that within the program,” the first-year USC coach said.

Kelly’s 44.3 yards per punt last season was 20th nationally and fourth in the SEC. The senior will again be the Gamecocks’ starting punter this season, provided a vigilante forest doesn’t get him first, of course.
