Mizzou RB Trevon Walters dismissed from team

Missouri running back Trevon Walters’ tumultuous Tigers career is now over.

Head coach Barry Odom announced the move on Monday, just days after he was arrested on suspicion of theft and using a fraudulent debit card.

Walters was arrested for the July 19 incident in which a 19-year-old male accused the Tigers running back of taking items, including a debit card, from his home. Walters was identified on surveillance cameras using the stolen card.

“Wish him the best,” Odom told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I want him to rebound from this and hope that he will.”

Walters did not seem to be in the Tigers’ immediate plans for this season. After redshirting in 2014 and missing the ’15 season with a knee ailment, Walters garnered just one carry in the team’s spring game. And that was before the club added Oklahoma transfer Alex Ross.

His departure was not met with tears by some in the Missouri football community.
