Syracuse RB George Morris out indefinitely after ankle surgery

For the time being, Syracuse will be without the most veteran of its backfield.

The school confirmed Friday that George Morris underwent surgery recently to repair an injured ankle. The fifth-year senior sustained the injury during practice last week.

No specific time frame for a return was given, although the rehab is expected to take multiple weeks.

Last season, Morris was second amongst Orange running backs with 326 yards rushing. For his career, Morris has totaled 761 yards on 180 carries.

The good news is that last year’s leading rusher, sophomore Jordan Fredericks (607 yards), returns. Fellow sophomore Dontae Strickland and his 81 yards in 2015 returns as well.
