The 2016 season officially kicked off last week in Australia, with Cal and Hawaii going Down Under to get the latest college football party off to an international start. There were also a handful of games Thursday and Friday night this week, with Appalachian State nearly pulling off a second huge upset nine years to the day of it first.
That action, though, served as merely a tasty appetizer. Saturday, we get the meat & potatoes, with dessert spilling over into both Sunday and Monday.
Oklahoma-Houston, LSU-Wisconsin (at historic Lambeau Field), Georgia-North Carolina, USC-Alabama and Clemson-Auburn are but a handful of powerhouse Week 1 matchups. For those with an international lean, and are early risers as well, Georgia Tech-Boston College is being broadcast live from Dublin, Ireland, at this very moment.
Oh, and lest we forget the clash of iconic programs: Notre Dame-Texas, clashing on a Sunday night as the NFL season will be a week away from kicking off. And did we mention Ole Miss-Florida State putting a wrap on Week 1 Labor Day night?
All of that, and I haven’t even mentioned games such as UCLA-Texas A&M, Missouri-West Virginia, Rutgers-Washington and Arizona-BYU, among others.
With the first full Saturday slate of FBS games getting set to kick off just a couple of hours hours from now, and as a service to you, our dear and loyal readers, we’ve created this page for all of y’all’s convenience, with all of our previews linked out from this one handy, dandy spot.
Enjoy, come back often and, most importantly, click away like your life depended on it. Or drink beer and watch actual football instead of just reading about it. One of the two. Or both. Your choice.
