Reports: Miami’s Sam Bruce broke leg playing basketball

And now we know a little bit more of the rest of the story.

Miami announced Friday morning that Sam Bruce would be sidelined indefinitely because of what it only described as a non-football related injury to his lower extremity. According to reports, Bruce, a consensus four-star 2016 signee, actually sustained a broken leg playing an on-campus game of pickup basketball.

.@MiamiHerald was told by sources that Sam sustained the severe injury playing hoops last night.

For what it’s worth, Bruce’s mother denied her son sustained the injury playing hoops.

There’s speculation that, regardless of how the injury occurred, the wide receiver could miss the remainder of the 2016 season, although that’s still to be determined. It’s also expected that Bruce will undergo surgery in the not-too-distant future to repair the unspecified damage he sustained.
