The rocky first year of Sam Bruce at Miami continues.
The U announced in a press release Friday morning that Bruce will be sidelined indefinitely because of an injury to his lower extremities. Other than it’s a non-football related injury and that team doctors continue to evaluate the extent of it, no specifics were detailed by the football program.
Bruce was a four-star member of the Hurricanes’ most recent recruiting class, rated as the No. 11 receiver in the country and the No. 13 player at any position in the state of Florida. The 5-8, 180-pound Bruce has been expected to be an immediate contributor in his first season, assuming he actually sees the field in 2016.
Just a couple of days ago, Mark Richt lauded the suspended player for his practice efforts.
“Great practice player,” the head coach said according to the Palm Beach Post. “Works hard. Brings a lot of energy. He’s not getting as many reps as the other guys, so he’s fresher. But when he gets his reps, he’s going full-speed. He looks like a player.”
