Mistakes dig No. 15 TCU halftime hole vs. Arkansas

Arkansas has been the better team through one half in Fort Worth. But self-inflicted mistakes have pushed No. 15 TCU into a 13-0 through one half.

Trailing 3-0 after the Hogs’ opening drive, TCU was set to have a first-and-goal inside the Arkansas’ 5-yard line but Deante Gray coughed up a fumble after a 22-yard run (and an uncalled facemask), which Arkansas recovered.

The Hogs tacked on another field goal when TCU added to its misery after Kenny Hill tossed a 47-yard pick-six to Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis at the 10:09 mark of the second quarter. On the ensuing possession, TCU again shot itself in the foot when a Hill run to the Hogs’ 29-yard line was called back for a chop block. After 2nd-and-9 became 2nd-and-24 and, eventually, 4th-and-15, Gary Patterson was forced to call a punt from the Arkansas 35.

Rawleigh Williams III leads Arkansas in rushing with 15 carries for 73 yards, while Austin Allen has hit 5-of-10 passes for 55 yards. Hill has connected on 18-of-28 passes for 144 yards and a pick-six.

While Arkansas leads TCU in rushes 24-10, the Hogs hold only an 87-78 edge in yards.

While TCU leads by 222-142 in total yardage, Arkansas has a five-minute edge in time of possession.

TCU will receive to open the second half.
