LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye was the lone survivor in a car accident this offseason that took the lives of Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler. There is a special brotherhood among college kickers, and that bond is something Delahoussaye will be carrying with him every week during LSU’s football season. What better tribute for a punter to honor another punter than by honoring them with his feet?
Delahoussaye shared an image of the cleats he is wearing this season on Twitter. The jersey numbers worn by Foltz (27) and Sadler (3) are printed on the side of the left cleat. The bottom of the right cleat combines the first names of the two kickers as well.
This is for my two boys, I got you guys always with me! This season is for y'all! Love and miss you two. @samfoltz27 @Sadler_3 pic.twitter.com/8PYAfGTsQF

This week, Northwestern will wear helmet decals with Foltz’s number as they host Nebraska. Last weekend, Oregon placed flowers at the 27-yard line in Memorial Stadium ahead of their road contest against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers opened the season by taking a delay of game penalty on their first punting situation, with only 10 men on the field as an on-field tribute to Foltz. Fresno State declined the penalty out of respect for Foltz and Nebraska.
