Blowing a 42-28 second half lead to Baylor on Saturday afternoon was not the only thing that went wrong this weekend for Iowa State.
Former Cyclones star tailback Troy Davis was jailed for public intoxication just hours after being honored by the school for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, according to the Des Moines Register.
The now 41-year-old running back was arrested and charged with public intoxication at 2:29 a.m. Sunday after ISU’s game in Ames per a university police department spokesperson. He was taken to a local jail and was being held on a $300 bond per the paper.
The news of Davis’ arrest caps a disappointing weekend for Iowa State. The Cyclones not only let a chance to upset Baylor slip away on the field, but the day was supposed to be about honoring one of the few school legends who are a bright spot in ISU football history.
Davis is the only player in FBS history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season twice and led the nation in rushing in 1995 and 1996. He also finished as the runner-up for the 1996 Heisman Trophy and will be inducted into College Football Hall of Fame in December.
