Machete-wielding man shot by campus police inside of Colorado’s athletics facility

I believe I can safely say that “machete-wielding” has been used for the first time in a CFT headline.

While the details are somewhat scant at the moment, the Colorado University police department issued an alert Wednesday morning regarding a man armed with a machete in the Champions Center, a facility opened earlier this year that houses, among other things, the football program’s offices and indoor practice facility. According to the Boulder Daily Camera, police subsequently shot the subject in a stairwell inside the building.

The subject was placed in custody; there’s no word on his condition.

CU Boulder Police have reported that all is clear at the Champions Center on campus after they responded to reports of a man with a machete. Police have apprehended the suspect and the situation is under control.

While there was an alerts test scheduled for noon today; this was not a test. Today’s alerts test is cancelled. Please avoid the Champions Center and surrounding area until further notice.

University officials are scheduled to hold an 11 a.m. local time press conference to brief the media and discuss the incident.
