With the Oklahoma Sooners preparing for the annual rivalry game with Texas on Saturday, one player is stepping into early retirement. Running back Daniel Brooks is reportedly calling it a career. Concussion issues are to blame. Brooks announced his decision via Twitter.

Brooks was a fifth-year senior and had rushed for 176 yards in 36 total games. He was a deep reserve at running back for the Sooners and contributed on special teams as well.
This is the second time just this week Oklahoma has had a player decide to retire from football amid concussion concerns. Just days prior, linebacker Tay Evans was forced to call it a career following his own battle with concussions. Adding to the pile of concussion concerns, Charles Walker is expected to miss Saturday’s game against the Longhorns as well as he has been sidelined by a concussion.
