It’s that time of the year again to ask the ridiculous question of whether or not one of the top college football teams in the country could beat one of the worst NFL teams in the league. The answer is, of course, no, but that has not stopped some folks in Ohio from thinking Ohio State could take down the Cleveland Browns.
Yep, that’s right. We’re talking about this nonsense once again this fall, because Ohio State is busy obliterating their opponents while the Browns continue to be the laughingstock of the National Football League. As noted by Public Policy Polling recently, 62 percent of those polled in the state of Ohio believe Ohio State would beat the Browns in a game. A mere 23 percent said the Browns would win, leaving 15 percent undecided. Amazing.
Ohio State is really freaking good, but they’re not going to beat even the worst NFL team.
Let’s just settle this once and for all. Ohio State’s current roster has how many NFL players on it. 15? 20? I don’t actually know the answer to that, but I do know the Browns have roughly three to four times as many NFL players available to them. Yes, the Browns may stink in the NFL, but they are still bigger, stronger and faster as a team than the Buckeyes are. Let’s stop having these silly poll questions tossed out there, once and for all.
And that goes for you too, college basketball. I know you’ll have something similar in the coming months. Just stop now.
The same poll also found Urban Meyer has an approval rating of 55 percent in Ohio. That feels remarkably low to me.
