Miami on Monday announced freshman receiver Sam Bruce, a four-star member of its 2016 recruiting class, has been dismissed from the program (via 247 Sports).
According to Miami’s release, Bruce was dismissed for “multiple” violations of team rules, as well as a “failure” to meet the expectations for players set by first-year coach Mark Richt.
The Fort Lauderdale product was issued a three-game suspension to begin the season after he brandished a gun in a photo while still in high school. Bruce was expected to make his Miami debut Oct. 1 at Georgia Tech, but didn’t after he broke his leg playing pickup basketball, per 247 Sports.
Bruce was expected to play immediately and contribute both as a receiver and returner for the ‘Canes in 2016.
