Clemson RB Wayne Gallman won’t practice while going through concussion protocol

Clemson will be without star tailback Wayne Gallman this week as he goes through the school’s concussion protocol.

Head coach Dabo Swinney updated reporters during a teleconference on Monday and said the team is holding Gallman out for mostly precautionary measures after he left Saturday’s game against N.C. State in the first quarter.

“Wayne was actually really good yesterday, good this morning,” Swinney said, according to TigerNet.com. “We will hold him out of practice this week as he goes through the (concussion) protocol. He really, really looked very good yesterday and today.”

Gallman leads the Tigers in rushing with 489 yards and five touchdowns. C.J. Fuller is the team’s primary backup at running back and rushed 16 times for 56 yards after Gallman was taken to the locker room.

Luckily for Clemson, the team is off on Saturday prior to traveling to Florida State next week in a battle of top 20 teams. Based on what Swinney was saying about the junior on Monday, it appears they will get him back in time for practice next week and he should be good to go for the Seminoles.
