BC drops NC State to break 12-game ACC losing streak

It’s been quite awhile, but Boston College has finally done it.

The it in this case is come out on top in a conference game, which BC (4-4, 1-4) did courtesy of a 21-14 win over North Carolina State (4-4, 1-3). The win was the Eagles’ first win in ACC play since Nov. 29, 2014, against Syracuse. BC had lost 12 straight league games prior to the NC State game.

It was also BC’s first league win on the road since Nov. 1 of 2014 at Virginia Tech.

For NC State, it’s the football program’s third consecutive loss after opening the season 4-1.

The Eagles, playing without their defensive coordinator because of health concerns, limited the Wolfpack to just 1.3 yards per carry on their 23 rushes. Ryan Finley did pass for 307 yards in the loss, his second 300-yard game of the season. He also threw a pair of interceptions, one of which came at the BC three-yard very late in the fourth quarter to thwart what could’ve been a game-tying touchdown.

BC ran for 168 yards on the day, paced by Jon Hillman‘s game-high 74 yards, while Patrick Towles passed for 204.
