Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi, on Purdue rumors: ‘That’s funny ... it ain’t happenin’’

It’s that time of the year again -- the silly season for coaching rumors.

Speculation has been making its way across the vast expanses of the Internet that Pat Narduzzi is a candidate for the Purdue. The only problem with that, of course, is the fact that Narduzzi is currently in the midst of his second season as Pittsburgh’s head coach.

The noise had gotten so loud on the Boilermakers front Narduzzi felt the need to address it.

“That’s funny,” Narduzzi said Thursday according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I’m not going anywhere. I don’t know who makes up those rumors.

“We don’t need to talk about that, but I can just tell you it ain’t happenin’. You can take that to the bank. From now on, I’m not even going to comment on it.”

It’s believed Narduzzi will make in the neighborhood of $2 million this year with the Panthers. Darrell Hazell, fired by the Boilermakers in the middle of last month, was set to make just south of $2.2 million.

Prior to coming to Pitt, Narduzzi had spent the previous eight seasons in the Big Ten as the defensive coordinator at Michigan State.
