Upset alert? Arkansas holds two-score lead over No. 11 Florida at halftime

At halftime in Fayetteville, the only thing everybody could agree on is that there have been better halves of football played in the SEC this season.

The Florida defense and the Arkansas defense both outscored the Gators’ offense thanks to a pair of pick-sixes and the Razorbacks own offense got going late in order to jump out to a 21-7 lead before halftime in one of the uglier games of the day.

Part of the reason why was because neither team was able to find much of a rhythm in the passing game. Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio tossed a pick-six on his very first play -- and threw another in the second quarter -- to finish the half just 7-of-13 for 85 yards. Arkansas signal-caller Austin Allen wasn’t much better at 8-of-16 passing to go with his own pick-six, but he did manage to find the end zone with his own team at least.

Bret Bielema has been known to pull off some big upsets late in the SEC season and he’s certainly well on his way to another based on how the Razorbacks closed that half against the No. 11 team in the country. The Gators do get the ball to open the third quarter but need to make plenty of adjustments in the locker room if they’re to get back in this one after a lackluster opening frame on the road.
