Florida LB Alex Anzalone to reportedly miss ‘extended time’ with broken forearm

A day later, Florida’s 31-10 stinker of a loss at Arkansas found a way to get even worse.

According to a report from Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com, the Gators will lose linebacker Alex Anzalone for an “extended period of time” after he sustained a broken forearm during the game.

A former 4-star, Anzalone has had trouble getting and staying on the field during his time in Gainesville. He has suffered shoulder in each of his three seasons, and will now likely lose the remainder of his 2016 campaign to the forearm injury. Aschoff noted that there is “no timetable” for Anzalone’s return, but with only three games remaining in Florida’s regular season, it’s possible we’ve seen the last of him this fall.

Florida also lost middle linebacker Jarrad Davis to an ankle injury during Saturday’s loss. His status for this week’s tilt against South Carolina is not yet known.

A redshirt junior, Anzalone will be eligible to return in 2017.

If this is indeed it for him, Anzalone finishes the season with 53 tackles, good for second on the club, and four stops behind the line of scrimmage.
