Wilton Speight ‘day-to-day’ per Jim Harbaugh

The will-he, won’t-he drama swirling around Michigan’s starting quarterback continues.

After reports surfaced earlier in the week that Wilton Speight had suffered a broken collarbone in Michigan’s first loss of the year and would likely miss the remainder of the regular season, Jim Harbaugh labeled those reports as “incorrect.” The head coach then went on to list the starting quarterback as questionable for this Saturday’s game against Indiana.

Two days later, Harbaugh slapped the “day-to-day” label on the junior.

“We’ll see how he feels today, it’s really been a day-by-day thing. He’s progressing,” the Wolverines head coach, by way of mlive.com, said on his radio show Thursday morning. “I know some people have said he’s out for the year and I have not heard that from the doctors. We’ll see how he is today. But that’s where we’re at, it’s a day-by-day thing right now.”

The injury Speight suffered, regardless of whether it’s broken or not, is to his left (non-throwing) shoulder. According to the Detroit Free Press, Speight was seen “at Schembechler Hall Wednesday and didn’t have an apparent brace or sling.”

Should Speight be sidelined against the Hoosiers this Saturday, Houston transfer John O’Korn would get his first start with the Wolverines. In limited action this season, the senior has connected on 13 of his 18 pass attempts for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns. While with the Cougars, O’Korn started 18 games.
