Tom Herman: ‘Don’t believe anything you read’

Not surprisingly, the denials are flowing like a certain Egyptian river.

For those who have been in a tryptophan-induced coma for the last 16 or so hours, Tom Herman is all but signed, signed and delivered as the next head coach at LSU. Unless Texas swoops in and swipes the Houston head coach out from under LSU’s feet. Or, unless Texas A&M dumps Kevin Sumlin and gets in on the Herman chase.

Herman, meanwhile, has a game to prepare for, a noon kickoff this afternoon that could push UH to back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in program history. Just prior to the regular-season finale, Herman was asked by ESPN‘s Cole Cubelic about the rumors swirling around the head coach.

“Don’t believe anything that you read,” Herman said. When asked if he can confirm those reports are false, Herman said, “Absolutely. Sure.”

USA Today had reported that “LSU officials met with Houston coach Tom Herman in the Houston area Thursday, according to members of the Tiger Athletic Foundation - the fundraising arm of the LSU athletic department behind the school’s search for a new coach.” That, though, may not have been the case after all.

Contrary to report, Tom Herman didn’t meet with #LSU yesterday..Nor did anyone who reps him.
