As more and more reports emerge that have Texas naming Tom Herman as its head coach at some point saturday, the soon-to-be-former Houston head coach could be bringing along a Houston player with him.
Alex Dunlap of Orangebloods.com is reporting that Kyle Allen is on track to graduate from UH and could be considering a transfer. Not surprisingly, Dunlap tweets, "[m]any are already assuming he follows Herman” to the Longhorns.UH QB Kyle Allen on pace for graduate transfer, HS coaching source says. Allen-to-Longhorns is far from a done deal, however, and could be dependant on Herman’s replacement. Already, even before Herman has officially left for UT, West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen, of all people, is being mentioned as a potential successor at UH. Should Holgorsen leave a Power Five program for one in the Group of Five, Allen could very well decide to stay.
Allen began his collegiate career at Texas A&M before transferring to Houston in January of this year, sitting out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA bylaws. If he were to leave the Cougars for the Longhorns, he’d be eligible to play immediately and have two years of eligibility remaining.
