USF sees first player transfer since Charlie Strong hire

Whenever there’s a coaching change at the collegiate level, roster turnover is sure to follow. Monday night, that process began at South Florida.

One day after Charlie Strong was officially announced as USF’s new head football coach, Armunz Mathews took to Twitter to announce that he has decided to transfer from the Bulls and continue playing at an undetermined elsewhere. The defensive back did not point to Strong’s hiring as the trigger for his decision, saying only that "[a]t the end of the day I have to do what’s best for me.”

Mathews was a three-star member of the Bulls’ 2016 recruiting class. He took a redshirt as a true freshman.
