North Carolina, TCU announce future home-and-home

As the 2016 season winds itself down, some scheduling news for future seasons has hit the email inbox.

Both North Carolina and TCU sent out press releases Thursday afternoon confirming that the two football programs have reached an agreement on a future home-and-home series. If you’re a fan of either program, though, you’ll have to wait a while for it to be played.

The Horned Frogs will play in Chapel Hill Sept. 13, 2025, with the Tar Heels returning the favor by traveling to Fort Worth Sept. 12, 2026.

The two teams have met on just three occasions, the first coming in 1940 and the last in 1997. The Tar Heels have won all three of those meetings.

Barring a schedule change, the 2025 game will mark TCU’s first regular season contest against an ACC school since 2009. North Carolina hasn’t played a team from the Big 12 in the regular season since 2002, and have no future games scheduled against teams from that conference until their matchup with TCU.
