Ex-Georgia Tech RB Marcus Marshall confirms transfer to James Madison

A little over two weeks after leaving Georgia Tech, Marcus Marshall has decided to continue his collegiate playing career on a lower rung of the football ladder.

In a posting to his Instagram account, Marshall revealed that he will enroll at James Madison and play for the Dukes. The move continues somewhat of a family tradition as Marshall’s father played football for the Dukes while his mother went to school there.

Blessed and extremely excited to be attending James Madison University in January to continue my academic and football career! #godukes 🐶💜

Because JMU plays at the FCS level, Marshall will be eligible to play immediately in 2017. Next season will be the first of two years of eligibility remaining for the running back. He also has a redshirt season at his disposal.

Marshall announced Nov. 30 that he would be transferring from the Yellow Jackets.

As a true sophomore last season, he led the Yellow Jackets in rushing with 624 yards. In rushing for 1,278 yards the past two seasons, Marshall averaged just over seven yards per carry.
