Four-star WR Jeff Thomas heading to Miami

One of the top wide receivers still undecided on National Signing Day is going to be a Cane. Jeff Thomas, from Illinois, announced his commitment to Miami during a press conference at his school on Wednesday morning.

Rivals ranks Thomas as the eighth-best wide receiver in the country and the second best player overall in the state of Illinois. Thomas had to work to get to this point after running into some academic issues during his high school career. But he’s here now and ready to work to help Miami’s offense as soon as possible. Other schools considered in the running for Thomas were believed to be Illinois, Oregon, Louisville, and Tennessee.

Scouting reports note Thomas should bring some good speed to the Hurricanes offense. He is a part of a pretty good signing day effort for Miami and head coach Mark Richt as well. Earlier in the day, Miami added JUCO transfer Jhavonte Dean, so the Hurricanes are adding talent and depth at the wide receiver position on this signing day.
