Woo Pig Sooie! Four-star CB Chevin Calloway commits to Arkansas

Arkansas appeared to be a leading contender for the commitment of four-star cornerback Chevin Calloway. On Wednesday at a press conference at his school, Calloway committed to the Razorbacks. Calloway was the top undecided cornerback heading into National Signing Day.

Rivals ranks Calloway as the eighth-best cornerback in the nation and the 11th overall recruit from Texas. Paul Rhoads and Vernon Hargreaves took the lead in the recruiting efforts to bring Calloway to Arkansas out of Dallas, Texas. The addition of Calloway is clearly a quality addition for Bret Bielema‘s recruiting class for 2017, because Arkansas needs plenty of help on the defensive side of the football. Calloway has family in Arkansas, so he looks forward to being able to play in Arkansas.

On the other side of the recruiting story, it seems the Texas Longhorns are having a bit of a rough time today on the recruiting trail in the first signing day under new head coach Tom Herman. The Longhorns are likely being held back by the recruiting efforts of the previous coaching staff at this point, so it is still too early to suggest Herman is in over his head in Austin. It was just tough for Texas to make inroads with some recruits with Charlie Strong perceived to be a lame duck coach last year.
